Missing in action is a term traditionally applied to soldiers unaccounted for in battle.
Well, friends, when life feels like a battle to you, there are times we might "go mia", too.
In this episode, I discuss 5 things you can do if you're in that season - don't let it go to waste!
Don't waste your "mia" season!
You may feel like just rolling over in bed and pulling the covers up over your head. Or maybe "just" secluding yourself from the outside world. But no matter...try one (or all) of there to make the best of the situation and come out stronger on the other side!
Allow yourself to "back off"
Don't think you have to, or worse, should do, #allthethings you've been doing or feel obligated to do. (And actually, can we mutually agree to delete the word "should" from our vocabularies?!) This is a time to lay off yourself, give yourself some grace, and...
Make self-care a priority
Whatever that looks like, friend. Trust your instincts that you are nurturing yourself, and step back into life when, and if, you agree with yourself that now's the time.
Lean into your "mia" status
It might seem counter-intuitive, but go ahead and embrace being mia. It might involve the next two steps below...or it might not! This will rely heavily on the messages you tell yourself and the mindset you adopt.
Start a new habit
I got this idea as a tool from the book Atomic Habits, by James Clear, which I read last year (link below). I've added a new habit to my morning routine of listening to a positive and informative video and taking notes on it. It's a way of setting up my day for success and optimism and (something I still and always will love to do) education! You don't have to start this habit...but make sure whatever you layer on to your life helps you move forward.
Practice positive procrastination
Playing the hermit? No worries - but do use the time to discover something new to do while you're in the season. Work on a different project. Pursue something new. Attack something else that you've been putting off for far too long... Get the idea? Totally pivot and you may find it easier to move forward on a new path, or one you'd abandoned in the past.

- Atomic Habits - by James Clear - An excellent read, but don't expect to read this straight through. The best way to benefit from it is to take ACTION as you go!
- What I listen to each morning with my coffee! It's actually delivered as a short (less than 10 minutes) video each morning, but this is the link to the podcast. (On Stitcher)
With you on the journey, friend!
